Motorcycle Tires:
Since it's introduction the
Michelin Pilot Motorcycle Tire has been taking the world of
road racing by storm. With it's almost Slick
like performance and extremely high durability it's
become the new D.O.T. tire of choice for many roadracers.
The long awaited Michelin Pilot Power , Power 2CT, and
Now Pilot Road 2 Motorcycle Tire is here! The
first Michelin street tire to use a tread compound originally designed for
race use. Quick warming,
super sticky compound. 100 percent synthetic components,
identical to Michelin MotoGP Motorcycle tires. Dry or wet riding tire.
RoadRacing World called it "the best motorcycle street tires I've ever ridden".
Still not convinced that Pilot Power motorcycle tire is
for you? Well, now there’s a dual-compound version, a direct descendant of
ONLINE ORDERMotoGP technology. With a softer rubber mix on the shoulders, the
new Pilot Power 2CT motorcycle tire will satisfy even the most demanding sport
riders. Want to carve corners at extreme lean angles? Do you feel like you’ve
found the limit with yONLINE ORDERcurrent tires? Does ONLINE ORDERnew liter bike
have more power than yONLINE ORDERtires can use? If so, then it’s time to switch
to the new Pilot Power 2CT motorcycle tire.
*22% on the rear tire.
Features: Michelin Pilot Power motorcycle
tires are the first series of tires to benefit from a rubber compound formula
specific
to competition tires: C-RAO (Compounds-Racing Optimization). This C-RAO rubber
mix gives the Pilot Power incredible
grip, and especially quick warm-up time, with no compromise in durability
compared to the current Pilot Sport motorcycle tire.
These properties result from a combination of three 100-percentsynthetic
components,
identical to those used in Michelin MotoGP motorcycle tires:
• Macro-molecular compounds (MMC)
• High-technology synthetic compounds (HTSC)
• Proprietary, 100-percent synthetic Michelin Racing Synthetic Elastomers
(MRSE), which came directly from Michelin MotoGP motorcycle tires.
On the Michelin test track at Ladoux, France, riders were able to lean a Pilot
Power-equipped bike to an amazing 41.9 degrees in corners - in full-wet
conditions! In the dry, they achieved an equally remarkable 50.6-degree lean
angle.
At a recent press launch at the Las
Vegas Motor Speedway, Roadracing World’s Steve Atlas commented:
“These are the best street tires I’ve ever ridden in my life.”
• Exceptional dry and wet grip:
Very soft rubber. Shore hardness measurements - 58 - confirm that the Michelin
Pilot Power motorcycle tires is the softest of the Hypersport tires
currently available on the market. It is 6% softer than its nearest competitor.
Michelin’s unique compound mixes and use of 100% silica
ensures that there is no compromise in terms of durability that is normally
associated with soft compound tires.
• Reduced warm-up times:
The Michelin Pilot Power Motorcycle tire owes its quick warm-up time to the
advances made in this area with respect to MotoGP tires. In fact, the
Michelin Pilot Power benefits from a rubber compound used in MotoGP over the
past two years.
• Easy handling, improved rider feedback and
maximum lean angles:
The new front profile of the Michelin Pilot Power motorcycle tire, derived from
the MotoGP tire, as well as its specific construction and rubber compounds,
has led to considerable progress in terms of handling and high-speed stability.
The combination of all these characteristics also provides better
feedback and a more progressive performance whilst cornering.
• The Michelin Pilot Power Motorcycle Tire is the
softest tire in its category and does not compromise longevity:
Softer rubber is better at compensating for unevenness of the road/track
surface. This is why the Michelin Pilot Power provides
excellent grip on wet and dry surfaces. The Michelin Pilot Power also owes its
very short warm-up time to its rubber compound,
which remains soft even at low temperatures. Until now, the use of soft
compounds resulted in rapid tread wear.
The revolutionary Pilot Power has spectacularly improved the grip, whilst
preserving the longevity of the tire.
This is due to the use of ultra fine silica, new additives and synthetic
elastomers.
"I
Thought these were Full Race Tires", says Nicky Hayden
After backing it into a turn at Las Vegas Motor Speedway aboard
The 2004 CBR1000RR w/ Pilot Power Motorcycle tire.

In 2014 Michelin will bring to market an all-new range of motorcycle
tires, available in three versions: the Michelin Pilot
Road 4, Michelin Pilot Road 4 GT and Michelin Pilot Road 4 Trail.
Intended for road use only, these tires cover most categories of road
motorcycles of more than 600cc. They were designed
to deliver maximum safety in the most common conditions of use,
especially on wet roads and in particular when braking.
Michelin will also be the tire supplier for the new BMW R 1200 RT with
the GT version of its new tire. The fact that BMW
has selected the Pilot Road 4 for this bike – the bestselling bike in
its category – reflects the level of performance it provides.
In short, the Michelin Pilot Road 4 delivers enhanced safety in all
situations and extended tire life. They are a tangible
illustration of Michelin’s Total Performance strategy of constantly and
simultaneously improving tire performance characteristics
across the board.
With the Michelin Pilot Road 4 tires, the aim is to enable as many

* ALL NEW *
MICHELIN PILOT ROAD 3
The new MICHELIN Pilot Road 3, which targets the rapidly expanding Sport Touring
Radial tire market, combines unprecedented performance with the marketplace's
best-balanced overall performance package. In terms of both the grip it provides
on wet roads and the consistency of the performance it delivers over time, the
newcomer even surpasses its predecessor, the MICHELIN Pilot Road 2, which was
launched in 2007 and which went on to be acclaimed as the segment's benchmark.
The MICHELIN Pilot Road 3's development fits perfectly with Michelin's strategy
with regard to innovation and was principally geared to ensuring enhanced safety
for motorcyclists.
To this end, grip plays a major role.As the sole point of contact between a
vehicle and the ground, tires are a part of the solution, in dry, wet and damp
conditions alike, and the new MICHELIN Pilot Road 3 shortens stopping distances
on wet roads by an average 2.5 metres *, which is equivalent to the width of a
pedestrian crossing. The gain is even as high as five metres in conditions where
grip is particularly at a premium. In addition to marking a real breakthrough
with regard to enhanced grip and safety, the overall package provided by the new
MICHELIN Pilot Road 3 is equally uncompromising when it comes to ensuring long
tire life and the consistent delivery of performance over time.
This progress was made possible thanks to two major breakthroughs.
The first of these breakthroughs is the incorporation of an innovative
technology fine-tuned by Michelin - MICHELIN XST (X Sipe Technology) - which
features a revolutionary tread pattern (the part in contact with the road).
MICHELIN XST is based on a combination of sipes and "wells" which enable the
tire to cut through the film of water and increase its water clearance capacity
to obtain a level of grip similar to that of a dry road.
The second breakthrough is the latest-generation MICHELIN 2CT (Two-Compound
Technology), an evolution which maximises the life expectancy of the MICHELIN
Pilot Road 3. In a nutshell, this technology consists of a combination of a
softer rubber for the shoulders and a more resistant compound for the central
part of the tread
Revolutionary x sipe technology maximizes wet traction
• Michelin’s newest technology delivers all-weather performance without
compromising tread life or handling
• Patented innovation resulting from years of research and development
• Two compound technology combines tread life and cornering grip
• 2CT incorporated into all tire sizes, front and rear
• Wider soft-compound shoulders on the front tire, compared to its predecessor
• High performance and environmentally sound
• 100% non-aromatic-oil rubber compounds

PILOT ROAD 2
The Michelin Pilot Road 2 is the ideal
balance between High Wear, and good traction.
Independent tests confirm the Pilot Road 2 offers better wet grip and longer
tread life than any of its competitors.
How did Michelin incorporate these two contradictory traits in one tyre?
MotoGP-derived Pilot 2CT technology makes it possible, using two distinct rubber
compounds to achieve what was once thought impossible.
Until now, you had to make a choice: the grip of a softer tire – or the
durability of a harder tire? But thanks to Michelin Pilot 2CT dual-compound
technology, the new Pilot Road 2 tire offers both grip and durability in one
tire. By integrating a soft rubber compound on the tread shoulders with a
wear-resistant compound down the middle, Michelin gives you the best of both
worlds. The Pilot Road 2 tire is like two tires in one.
Pilot Road 2 Features
Best wet grip of any comparable sport touring tire*
Longest mileage of any comparable sport touring tire*
Rider confidence in challenging conditions
11 sizes covering 94% of all sport tire radial fitments
The ONLY dual-compound tire in the sport touring segment
