THE 014 BLADE IS THE WAVE SAIL TO CHOOSE FOR ALL-ROUND HIGH PERFORMANCE.

Maximum stability and wind range is built into this sail by using 5 battens, control-oriented profiles and a medium head tension to allow twist. This year, the smaller sizes have been softened for even more high-end control.

The Blade produces a lot of down-force, which does 2 things;
- holds the board on the water when over-powered giving a very safe, in-control feeling.
- drives the rail into turns, enabling it to produce those trademark McKercher gouges.

Last year, we introduced SpiderFibre technology which allowed us to radically reduce swing weight, and at the same time engineer a stronger clew. After I2 months of these sails being in the market we’re pretty stoked to be running at a zero failure rate.

So for the 20I4 Blade we’ve continued to reduce swing weight by lightening up the leech area by using our proven eM3 material.  These high tech materials make the Blade one of the lightest wave sails available, even compared to other brands’ 4 batten sails. Other construction updates include stronger mini-battens using designs pioneered in the S-I.

S-1 2014

THE 0I4 S-I IS THE ULTIMATE IN LIGHTWEIGHT, MANEUVER-ORIENTED PERFORMANCE.

The 20I4 S-I is the latest refinement of the maneuver-oriented wave sail. The higher tension head and leech combined with flatter, faster profiles give a very active ride. Add to this the higher clew geometry and you have a sail that is essentially a loaded spring, ready to drive vertically into the lip or accelerate instantly to launch velocity.

The S-I remains the lightest wave-sail in our range, benefiting from our highest tech materials. A lighter wave sail means higher performance. It will be easier to maneuver, faster to accelerate and more accurate to position.

Last year’s S-I saw it change to a 4-batten layout. This greatly softened the sail and gave it the advantage of being very forgiving when landing moves. The downside was a narrower wind range. So for 20I4 the design brief was to increase wind range and stability, whilst maintaining all of the 0I3 S-I’s positive aspects. The R&D process included a detailed study of aspect ratios, head tensions, bias loads and their effects on e5 and eM3. The end result saw an increased aspect ratio, higher skin tension and more elasticised head tension. A wind range that used 3 sails to cover last year, can now be covered with 2.

FREEK 2014

DEDICATED FREESTYLE SAIL FOR EXPLOSIVE LIFT AND INCREDIBLE DUCKING  STABILITY.
Modern freestyle has evolved into a high-power, aerial discipline requiring very specific sail characteristics.  Arguably the most important of these is the sails’ ducking ability; being able to consistently duck the sail at high speed, and on both tacks was a priority. 
We chose to use a 5 batten layout on the Freek as it allows us to increase the wind-range and stability. This allows the rider to carry more speed and power into manoeuvres, which results in higher, more explosive moves. By utilizing our high tech eM3 materials, our 5 batten freestyle sail is still lighter than most 4 batten sails.

For 20I4, the Freek has even more lift, increased stability and easier ducking;- Aspect ratios have been increased which resulted in the increased lift.
- Stability was improved by reducing the head area.
- New profiles used in the power zone coupled with softer battens make the Freek more neutral during ducking manoeuvres.
